Hardwell (born as Robbert van de Corput in Breda, Netherlands)is a progressive and electro house DJ and music producer. Breaking into the scene in 2009 with his bootleg of "Show Me Love vs. Be", he has produced multiple hit EDM singles such as "Encoded" and "Cobra"and also made collaborations and toured with Tiësto.
Hardwell. Not really a house hold name on the American dance scene yet. Perhaps you know of him because of his collaboration he did with Tiesto, or you know him as the guy that co-produced Madonna’s new album MDNA, or maybe you watched his live set from Ultra this year. The fact of the matter is there’s not been too much love for Robbert van de Corput in the states yet.
After one of the most watched UMF TV live sets of WMC, it seems like people are finally starting to catch on. And for good reason nonetheless. Hardwell has been on the electronic dance scene pumping out Dutch house since the ripe age of 14 and ever since then he’s gone no where but up. Remixing the likes of Martin Solveig, Tiesto, Steve Angello, and Dada Life he’s always been respected by major artists for his unique style and approach to progressive house.
In 2010 he formed his own label Revealed Recordings and was ranked number 24 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ list for 2011. Alongside other artists like Alesso, Deniz Koyu and R3hab, Hardwell was named an EDM artist to watch in 2012 by MTV.
A lot of US fans recognize Robbert van de Corput, better known as Hardwell, by his major anthem with Tiesto last year, Zero 76, but there's actually a lot more behind his present day success. He didn't become the world-renowned DJ he is today overnight; his #24 placement on the DJMag Top 100 Poll came after only after many years of touring and producing quality tunes. In fact, he started his DJ career when he was just 13 years old and his first release was signed by a Dutch label when he was only 14!
Behind the decks Hardwell never fails to deliver, his exceptional technical skills, variety of music and that added personal touch make him stand out, and he’s ready to bring this to the masses.
There’s a new kid on the block, and he’s here to stay.
“Guess What”, a recent co-production with Chuckie, is likely to be one of the most played underground house records of the past two years, his “Show Me Love vs. Be” bootleg of Steve Angello and Sebastien Ingrosso’s track was one of the biggest dance hits of last year and “MRKRSTFT” has been included in almost all of the house compilations of 2008.
Continuing on to 2011, Hardwell paid tribute to his icons Tiesto and BT with a modern rework of the classic Love Comes Again. He also got with fellow rising star Nicky Romero to make a real electro banger named Beta. Fast forward to 2012, and we have his highly anticipated Spaceman, out now on his own imprint Revealed Recordings after a wildly popular teaser video built plenty of anticipation for the release.
On top of this pronounced success stories, Hardwell has also topped the leading Dutch chart ‘Dance-Tunes.com’ a grand total of 6 times in the past 12 months. He has also taken up remix duties for artists such as Chris Lake, Funkerman, Laidback Luke, Sharam (Deep Dish), Steve Angello, Booty Luv and Hi_Tack amongst others…need we go on?
At just 21 it’s fair to say he’s ‘been around’ if you take into consideration his achievements over the past 18 months. His passion for music, in particular his love of all things house, has helped this multi-talented producer climb his way to the top. Hardwell’s overall talent is recognised by the dance music industry as a new, exciting and refreshing take on a scene that continues to evolve and with an apparent everlasting shelf life!
