After years of significant financial losses, including nearly $650 million in 2009-10 and 2010-11, the league sought drastic changes to the collective bargaining agreement, resulting in last year's lockout which led to a shortened 66-game schedule this season.
NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver, who was the league's lead negotiator during collective bargaining with the players union, said the changes in the new agreement are already beginning to show positive results for teams.
